Abstract

A forklift is a type of heavy equipment equipped with a fork which functions as a support for carrying and lifting goods or materials. A hydraulic system is a system for transferring and controlling power using a fluid medium. In the transportation mechanism using a hydraulic system, a hydraulic pump is like the heart of the hydraulic system. In this forklift there is a problem with the hydraulic system where it cannot lift the maximum load at a certain height, the use of the forklift must be in accordance with the specifications and function to achieve a suitable and optimal condition. The purpose of this research is to determine data analysis in designing forklift forks. This calculation produces data specifications, namely the material allowable stress of 0.8 kg/mm2. In this way, the fork is safe from the load, namely σb: 0.8 kg/mm ​​which is smaller than σi: 17.3 kg/mm. From the analysis and calculations the welded joint produces a tensile stress of 71 kg/cm2, the load received is 1000 kg, the weld area is 3400 mm2 and the welded joint is able to accept a load of 525400 kg. So the welded joint construction is safe because it is greater than the lifting load, namely 1000 kg.
