Abstract

Cut and fill work on the Southern Cross Road Project Lot 3 Blitar STA 02+500 requires a rock excavation method that is both productive and cost-efficient. This study compares the performance of the PC200 hydraulic breaker and the blasting method based on field observations, time study, and technical work data. The blasting parameters used include a burden of 2.10 m, spacing of 2.80 m, 126 blast holes, total drill meters of 718.20 m, an average depth of 5.70 m, a volume of 4,223 BCM, and a powder factor of 0.42 kg/BCM. Safety control is applied through a safe zone of 500 m for workers and 300 m for equipment. The analysis results show that the hydraulic breaker has a productivity of 22.00 m³/hour with a cost of IDR 31,391/m³, while the blasting method achieves a productivity of 198.26 m³/hour with a cost of IDR 16,759/m³. Based on these results, the blasting method is more effective for large-volume rock excavation because it provides higher productivity and lower unit cost.
